It is in the eastern province.Alternatively called Digamadulla. Main cities are Uhana, Dehiattakandiya,Ampara, Kalmunai,Akkarapattu etc.
Ampara is not a big city. But it is developing. There is some supermarkets and one stop shops. They use even barcode readers. Sampath, Commercial ,National savings bank, peoples banks available with the ATM facilities. They will open even Sundays.
There is some internet cafes. But ICT infrastructure is minimum. Most mobile telephone providers did not covered the 3G facility yet.
There is some one private hospital and over crowded. They do doctor channel services too.
Most shops here are registered as private liability companies.
Gamini maha Vidyalaya, D.S Senanayaka Madya Maha Vidyalaya are the main schools. But they do not have the English medium sections yet.
